Welcome to Year 4 Holly's class page. 


This term our topic is: Rivers and Canals 

Over the course of this term the children will be learning about Rivers and Canals. We will be looking at how rivers form naturally and that canals are made by humans. The children will be learning about the different aspects of both as well as learning the names of the rivers of the world.

The focus will be changing grams to kilo grams through multiplication and the same with other units of measurements. 



Over the coming weeks we will be looking at: Charlotte's Web


The children will be reading Charlotte's Web written by E.B. White.


Charlotte's Web is about a girl named Fern, a pig named Wilbur and a spider called Charlotte. They live on a farm and Fern is horrified when she finds out that Wilbur as a piglet is to be slaughtered. She rescues Wilbur only then to have him sent away from her to her uncle's farm where he is friendless and snubbed by the other animals except Charlotte, a spider, and this is where Wilbur's adventures begin.


They will be using this a stimulus for creative writing where will be learning how we can turn speech into description and how rewriting a chapter from another person's perspective can change the meaning of the book.





This term will be looking at: Living things and their habitats.


The children will be learning how to classify animals and understanding how they have adapted to their environment. As part of this unit we will also be looking at how humans have an impact of the environment and what we can do to have a positive impact.

We will be having PE on a Thursday afternoon. Could you please ensure that your children have the correct PE kit and it is clearly all names in a named bag. It is really important that the children stay hydrated so could you also please give your child a water bottle that is name.
