Multiplication Tables

The National Curriculum states that pupils should become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics through varied and frequent practice. By the end of Year 4, pupils are expected to be capable of recalling all 12 times tables up to 12x12.

 

 

At East Acton,  we ensure this is consistent throughout all maths lessons, where we encourage pupils to develop their deeper number sense and fluency through regular practice, repetition and revision. 

 

Our school is taking part in the NCETM Mastering Number project that aims to secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children from Reception through to Year 2. The children should leave KS1 with fluency in calculation and a confidence and flexibility with number. 

 

It is important that children practice the tables at home and develop their speed and confidence in knowing both the multiplication and the related division facts.
